Soprano Marlis Petersen sinks her claws into the titular femme fatale of Alban Berg’s tempestuous opera of love, obsession and death, recorded live at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York. Lothar Koenigs wields the conductor’s baton for director William Kentridge’s staging, a co-production between the Metropolitan Opera, Dutch National Opera and English National Opera, which also stars Johan Reuter as wealthy newspaper publisher Dr Schon.
