Cops discover bloodied and disoriented Sarah, one of the cavers declared lost in the mountains. Sheriff Vaines quickly decides that Sarah murdered her friends, hence all the spatter on her clothes. He employs kind deputy Rios to interrogate Sarah and when she refuses to break, the sheriff foolishly demands they all venture back underground to jog her memory in the company of experienced rescue volunteers Dan, Cath and Greg.
