Teenager loner Tom has always dreamt of becoming a rock star. A charismatic man called Steve moves into the flat below Tom and plays loud rock music at all hours of the day and night. The lad realises that his new neighbour is Max Stone, the guitarist of the rock band Nothing, who vanished in disgrace many years ago owing a small fortune in unpaid tax. Tom approaches Max and agrees to keep the musician’s true identity secret in exchange for guitar lessons.
