Bud Baxter works at a New York insurance firm. In order to secure promotion, Bud allows his superiors to use his apartment for meetings with their mistresses. It seems a small price to pay for career advancement. Problems arise, however, when Bud realises that his boss Mr Sheldrake has taken the object of his affections – elevator operator Fran – as a lover.
