Freelance photographer Tom Carver has allowed his life to implode in the aftermath of the death of his teenage son. His marriage to Rachel is over, his apartment is a mess and he is struggling to sustain a new relationship with his girlfriend Christina. During a morning walk, 15-year-old local tearaway Carl intentionally bumps into Tom in order to start an argument. The subsequent exchange of harsh words kindles a full-blown feud between Tom and the adolescent’s posse.
