Starless Dreams

A harrowing documentary, which spends 20 days in a juvenile correctional facility for girls on the outskirts of Tehran. Granted unprecedented access to the inmates, the film meets several girls under the age of 18, who have endured terrible childhoods and, in many cases, would rather be behind bars than back at home. One memorable subject is Masoumeh, who reveals that she murdered her abusive father with the help of her mother and sister.
