David Troughton plays the demanding title role in director Blanche McIntyre’s contemporary staging of Shakespeare’s bloodthirsty tragedy, which was recorded live on the stage of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. Titus Andronicus has lost 21 sons during a brutal 10-year war that has tested his resolve to breaking point. He returns to Rome with a blackened heart and prisoners: Tamora, Queen of the Goths, her three sons Alarbus, Chiron and Demetrius, and her lover Aaron.
