Marvin Bijou is raised in a country village by his parents, who struggle to connect with their boy, especially his brutish father Dany, who suspects his son might be gay. Classmates bully and abuse Marvin and the youngster searches for a place where he feels he belongs. His salvation is headmistress Madeline Clement, who recognises that Marvin is a sensitive child. She suggests that he might want to express himself at drama school. As he grows up, Marvin exorcise his demons on and off the stage.
