Originally conceived as a 20-part tribute to the arrondissements of the French capital, each short film directed by a different celebrated filmmaker, Paris Je T’Aime has jettisoned two of the segments to become 18 picture postcards from such luminaries as Olivier Assayas, Gurinder Chadha, the Coen brothers, Alfonso Cuaron, Alexander Payne and Gus Van Sant. A bloodthirsty encounter with a vampire leads to a comical tale on the metro, culminating in a lonely postwoman from Denver (Martindale) realising how much she loves Paris.
