Re-release of John Cassavetes’s 1978 drama, starring Gena Rowlands as screen diva Myrtle Gordon, whose penchant for a drink threatens to derail the opening night of a new play, which she is headlining opposite Maurice Aarons (Cassavetes). While director Manny Victor (Ben Gazzara) and playwright Sarah Goode (Joan Blondell) suffer Myrtle’s wild mood swings, trying to keep the production on track, the leading lady makes everyone’s life a misery.
