Cane and Eva are members of a close-knit society known as The Hive, which is founded on the strong telepathic bonds between spouses. They embark on an epic mission to a faraway planet. En route, Cane communicates with his girlfriend Awan while Eva is comforted by her partner Seth. When Awan dies and Cane finds himself alone on the ship, Eva becomes concerned that her shipmate might channel his isolation into forging unhealthy emotional bonds.
