Dimitri Pizarnik and his brother Boris are doctors, who run the same practice in the old Chinese quarter of Paris. One night, the siblings answer a house call to a diabetic girl called Alice, who has been left home alone by her bartender mother, Judith. The following day, Boris makes the follow-up visit to check on Alice and he falls under Judith’s spell. Romance sparks immediately between mother and medic – an instant attraction complicated when Dimitri also becomes entranced with Alice.
