Raised in the housing projects of South Jamaica, percussionist Milford Graves began performing professionally in 1964. He blazed a trail as a pioneer of avant-garde jazz as a solo artist and a collaborator with the likes of Albert Ayler, Giuseppi Logan and Sonny Sharrock. This documentary travels to Graves’s home to observe the musician at work and play. He discusses his life, career and inspirations, and also makes a special visit to Japan to play a concert for autistic schoolchildren.
