In 1325, Moroccan scholar Ibn Battuta travels from Tangier to Mecca on his first epic pilgrimage to Mecca. Over the next 29 years, the scholar travels three times further than Marco Polo, covering around 75,000 miles as he leaves the familiar surroundings of west Africa for Spain, India, China and the Maldives. When Ibn Battuta returns to Morocco and his best friend Hamza (Nabil Elouahabi), he answers a plea from the Sultan to dictate his adventures.
