Jane Hammond lives in 1870s New Mexico with her husband Bill. They attempt to lie low and avoid attracting the attentions of the sadistic Bishop Boys – a gang of gunslingers, who have mercilessly tormented the Hammonds in the past. One day, Bill stumbles home riddled with bullets and warns his wife that John Bishop and his posse are close by. Having patched up her husband, Jane reluctantly visits the home of gun-slinging neighbour Dan Frost – her one-time fiance – to beg him to fight with her.
