Barbara Thorson is a loner, who is obsessed with the otherworldly creatures of Dungeons & Dragons. She takes on the role of giant slayer for her neighbourhood on Long Island, even though the other residents can’t see these hulking predators. Barbara’s erratic behaviour puts her at odds with her older sister and guardian, Karen. The new girl at school, Sophia, is drawn to Barbara and this burgeoning friendship forces the misfit to confront her demons.
