Biopic of singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg, beginning with his formative years as a precocious child in Nazi-occupied Paris where he struggles to live up to the expectations of his Russian-Jewish parents. He develops his gift for music and falls in love with Elisabeth Levizky, who becomes his first wife. A high profile affair with Brigitte Bardot leads to a dalliance with English singer and actress Jane Birkin, with whom he duets on Je T’aime… Moi Non Plus.
