Michael lives on a beach in County Cork with his wife and young children, neglecting his duties as a parent to soak himself in alcohol. During an altercation with a police sergeant, Michael's wife and their unborn child are accidentally killed. The father is sent to prison. When the father is eventually released, he cannot return to his old rabble-rousing ways while he is on parole. So it's left to his 15-year-old daughter Frances to don boxing gloves and fight for the rights of her family.
