Xavier Racine is the presiding judge in Saint-Omer and he has a fierce reputation as stickler for due process. A nasty case of the flu takes hold of Xavier as he prepares to hear the sad case of a father Martial, who stands accused of kicking his young daughter to death. Before the trial can begin, a jury must be chosen and Xavier is shocked when a beautiful face from his past – single mother Ditte Lorenson-Cotelet – is randomly selected to try Martial.
