Tom Thompson is patriarch of a dysfunctional family including his wife Sophie and daughters Jess and Katie. A stranger dies at the family's dinner table and they are accused of murder. Six months later, family friend Tim Tanaka visits prodigiously frank psychotherapist Dr Eric Sacks. Soon after, the story is splashed across the tabloid press and the facts are distorted beyond all recognition.
