Documentary film-maker Sam Donager becomes intrigued by white American teenagers’ fascination with hip hop culture, often adopting the same mannerisms, speech and dress as youngsters from the ghetto. Dragging her effete boyfriend Terry along for the ride, Sam hooks up with a group of high schoolers who introduce her to Harlem life: a violent world in which best friends turn on one another and drugs and sex prove to be everyone’s undoing.
