Best (12A)

Documentary (2016)
90mins UK

Director: Daniel Gordon
Listings: London | Rest of UK and Ireland

Brazilian footballer Pele famously described Northern Irish winger George Best as the "best player in the world". The teenager was at the heart of Manchester United's recovery under manager Matt Busby after the tragedy of the Munich air crash. Sadly, the pressures of fame took a hefty toll and Best's hard fought battle with alcoholism diminished his abilities on the pitch before he turned 30. This documentary paints a heart-breaking portrait of a sporting genius undone by his own demons.
