Atomic: Living In Dread And Promise

Genre: Documentary
Director: Mark Cousins
Running Time: 69mins
Country: UK

On August 6, 1945 in the final year of the Second World War, American forces dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, followed three days later by another device on Nagasaki. The appalling destruction and loss of life brought home the devastating power of the nuclear age. This impressionistic documentary draws on decades of archive film, accompanied by a new musical score composed by Scottish rock band Mogwai, to chronicle mankind’s topsy turvy relationship with atomic power.
