Zheng Kaisi is struggling to pay the medical bills of his ageing mother, who has languished in a coma for years. He is besotted with one of the nurses, Qing, but is too shy to pursue her, given the shambolic state of the family’s finances. To pay off his debts, Kaisi forges a Faustian pact to play an elaborate death match version of rock, paper, scissors aboard a huge ship. Losers are condemned to be exploited as human lab rats in scientific experiments.
