Amandla! : A Revolution In Four Part Harmony (12A)

Documentary filmmaker Lee Hirsch charts the turbulent history of South Africa from the rise of the right wing National Party in 1948 to Nelson Mandela’s rousing election victory in 1994, the first vote open to all of the country’s citizen’s. Amandla! argues that music has played a central role in the fight for racial equality, and sets interviews with key figures and archive footage to a soundtrack by the likes of Hugh Masekela, Abdullah Ibrahim, Miriam Makeba and Vusi Mahlasela.
