Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, picked up free Valentine’s gifts as they visited Borough Market yesterday (14.02.13,) to celebrate the famous site’s 1000th birthday.

Included in the royal couple’s haul was a bunch of flowers and a giant heart-shaped chocolate.

“I told [Camilla] ‘I’m giving you a bouquet of flowers in case your husband forgets’,” said florist Sharon Crane.

When handed the edible heart – emblazoned with the legend ‘Love from Borough Market’ – the Duchess hinted that she might be some kind of fiendish chocoholic.

“I will have no problem munching my way through that,” she said.

Charles wasn’t left empty-handed on the trip, but he had to settle for a simple cup of tea.

“I’m honoured, this is nice, it’s something for the memories,” said cafe owner Maria Moruzzi after serving the heir to the throne.

“Maria’s Market Cafe by Royal Appointment, how about that?”
