The soprano – who was chosen to record the Diamond Jubilee single Stronger As One – took to London’s underground system with an orchestra to perform the single and songs from her debut album Glorious, to be released on 28 May.

Wright, 21, will sing for the Queen more than any other artist this year and has previously revealed she loves performing for Her Majesty and Prince Philip, because the Prince’s cheeky sense of humour puts her at ease.

“He’s so funny, he’s just so cheeky,” she said.

“It’s nice though because in a situation like that he really breaks the ice. He is lots of fun. They’re such a sweet couple. She’s so beautiful, she’s really gentle.

“Before I sang in Westminster Abbey it was quite nerve wracking. The queen walked past and I stood up and just remember thinking don’t do anything and then I sang and the experience was amazing.”

Laura will release her new album, Glorious, on 28 May through Decca Records.
