The Queen reportedly doesn’t wear subdued colours because she fears people wouldn’t recognise her.

The monarch is always seen in outfits in bright colours such as pink, fuschia, blue and turquoise in public because she is so modest she fears people would otherwise not recognise her, according to biographer Robert Hardman.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4, he said: “She is engagingly modest. My favourite remark she ever said was, ‘I can never wear beige because nobody will know who I am’.
“This is someone who turned down a set of stamps to mark her 70th birthday, on the grounds that it was a lot of fuss about nothing.”
The queen made an official visit to Leicester in on Thursday (08.03.12) as part of an official tour in support of her Diamond Jubilee, for which she wore a cerise cashmere dress and coat with black trim by Angela Kelly, her senior dresser, and a matching hat.
Royal aides said later that they were not aware she showed a preference for colour.
A source told the Daily Telegraph: “The queen wears all colours. She has a Mac after all!”
An official spokesman for Buckingham Palace has declined to comment.
