Prince Harry has demanded to return to battle action in Afghanistan.

“You can’t train people and then not put them into the role they need to play,” said Harry.

“I want to serve my country. I’ve done it once, and I’m still in the Army. I feel as though I should get the opportunity to do it again.”

The 27-year-old royal – who spent 10 weeks on the frontline in the war-torn country at the end of 2007 and beginning of 2008 – recently qualified as an Apache helicopter pilot and says he wants to put his military training into practice as soon as possible, despite critics saying he won’t go back.

He told CBS News: “I enjoyed it because I was with my friends. And, you know, everyone has a part to play.

“All these people talking these stories of, ‘Oh, he’s been trained as Apache pilot, he’s never going to see active service, he’s never going to get to the front line’. These people live in a ridiculous world to even think that.”

Harry’s last tour of duty in Afghanistan was cut short when some press elements broke a media blackout on reporting details of his service.
