The 28-year-old actor – best known for his roles in gritty urban movies Kidulthood and Adulthood – takes inspiration for his career from fellow Londoners, and would love to work with them one day.

“I’d love to work with Michael Cain and Ray Winstone,” said Deacon.

“You grow up watching them and they seem like real humble people that started on one level and they went on to great things. I look up to them guys, on where I want my career to go.”

However, the young star is keen not to forget his roots in Hackney, East London.

He said: “I want to never forget the fact that there’s a massive fan base, they want good entertainment. Why can’t you get the budget and actually give it back to the UK, as in have some exposures in London rather than New York?

“I think a lot of actors/directors, when they get to that level, they’re like, ‘Right, let’s go to Hollywood baby,’ and get bigger budgets. I want to do both.

“It’s about changing the films you make, but at the same time not forgetting about anyone and taking them on a journey with you.”
