“Thanks to digital technology we will be able to deliver it worldwide almost instantly,” said David Joseph, chairman of Universal Music UK.

The Choir of Westminster Abbey, The Chapel Royal Choir, The London Chamber Orchestra and The Fanfare Team from the Central Band of the Royal Air Force are among the performers to be featured on the Will and Kate wedding album, along with the hymns, readings and vows.

“The wedding means so much to millions of people all over the world – we have to capture every note and every nuance perfectly and have the recording ready within minutes of the end of the ceremony,” said producer Anna Barry.

There will also by a physical version of the recording, to be released on 5 May, the week after the 29 April ceremony. £1 from each sale will go to The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, a charity for young people.
