Coldplay to fund Ray Winstone crime film.

COLDPLAY are to enter the movie business by putting money into Ashes, a crime film starring Ray Winstone.

Details of the film are sketchy, but it has been revealed that its director will be Mat Whitecross, who in 2010 directed Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll, a biopic of Ian Dury.

Whitecross has also directed some of Coldplay's videos and has apparently known the band since university days.

As well as Winstone – currently to been in almost every TV break in the bet265 ad – Ashes is to feature the acting talents of Jim Sturgess, Lesley Manville, Jodie Whittaker and Luke Evans.

Production of Ashes starts next week in the Isle of Man. Coldplay are currently at work on their fifth album.
