The Harry Potter star was honoured with the accolade by leading US celeb magazine Entertainment Weekly magazine and the publication’s editor Jess Cagle thinks awarding the gong to the 22-year-old actor made “the most sense”.

Cagle described the Harry Potter star as “the nicest guy with one of the brightest futures in Hollywood.”

“There’s nothing he can’t do,” she said.

Cagle revealed Adele was a close runner-up for the accolade, but she praised Daniel’s ability to avoid some of the pitfalls of fame.

“He’s really interested in doing the work,” she added.

“Despite all his wealth and fame as a teenager, he never derailed. He was never busted. Never went outside without his panties on.”

Last year’s winner of the EW award was the similarly “nice” Taylor Swift.
