PETE DOHERTY, Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell have already been in rehearsals ahead of the newly re-formed Libertines’ appearance at this summer’s Reading and Leeds festivals.

The band split up back in 2004 following a row between Doherty and Barat, but are reported to have struck a £1.5m deal to get together for the 27-29 August festivals and in preparation held a secret rehearsal in London last week.

“The four of them only agreed to it after a secret rehearsal to see if it still worked,” a source told The Sun.

“Carl is nervous about the reunion because he is worried Pete could let him down again. But Pete’s promised he will give his all for the gigs.”

If that promise is kept, we can expect new songs from the foursome on top of the live work.

“If it works out they will consider writing new material,” the source added.
