David Beckham wins damages over model claims. Photo Credit: CLF. C.C. License.DAVID BECKHAM has won a legal case against the Daily Star, winning undisclosed damages after the paper said the England footballer had been on a date with a model.

Earlier this year, the Star claimed Beckham enjoyed a dinner-for-two night with Hungarian model Mariann Fogarasy. The story was denied in forthright terms at the time:

"90% of what is written about us is invented," said Beckham.

"I have never been out to dinner with this young lady. If I took the time to deny every story, I wouldn't have time to be a footballer."

As well as coughing up the damages payment, the Star has apologised to Beckham.
