Michael Jackson's London court date
- He's on his way to defend big money case
Friday, 21st November 2008
MICHAEL JACKSON, now Mikaeel Jackson, is to show up at the High Court on Monday (24 November) to defend claims that he owes millions to a Bahrain sheikh.
Sheikh Abdullah says he forwarded Jackson £4.7 million in 2006 to help the pop legend out of a financial hole during his child molestation trial - he was found innocent - and that Jackson agreed to pay the cash back out of future earnings.
That last bit is the sticking point, with Jackson denying there was a valid agreement for repayment. He says he saw the money as a gift.
There was some talk that Jackson would duck out of a trip to the UK on medical grounds, but his doctors have now given him the all-clear.
Menawhile, Jackson has become a Moslem and changed his name to Mikaeel, in a ceremony witnessed by music-meets-Mohammed trailblazer Yusuf Islam, formerly Cat Stevens.
Mikaeel is the name of one of Allah's angels.
