Although the troubled singer – who was left devastated after a court ruled on Monday (01.10.07) she had to hand over Sean Preston, two, and one-year-old Jayden James to ex-husband Kevin Federline – didn’t regain joint custody she will be able to see her boys on a regular basis.

Court representative Allan Parachini said: “Britney’s access to her kids works out to about every other day.”

The new custody arrangement will stay in place until the next hearing, scheduled for later this month, which both Britney and Kevin will be required to attend.

Kevin – who was in court yesterday (03.10.07) – was pleased with the outcome, insisting the boys are better off with him.

His lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan said: “We felt the custody orders were justified and Kevin was pleased with the orders in place. The children are good and right now they are in his custody.”

Britney was not required to attend the hearing, spending the day in Beverly Hills instead.

Yesterday evening, she checked into the luxurious Beverly Wilshire Hotel and later went to a coffee shop with her bodyguard.

After getting a drink, the ‘Toxic’ singer – who was recently charged for driving without a valid licence – got a ride back to the hotel with paparazzi.

Sources claim Britney – who was ordered by a judge to take twice-weekly drug tests and complete a parenting course to prove she’s a suitable mother – is confident she will regain joint custody of Sean and Jayden.

Britney and Kevin – whose divorce was finalised in July – were originally granted joint custody but following the 25-year-old star’s erratic behaviour, Kevin has battled to become the boys’ primary carer.
