London DJ Profile:
CHRIS SOLBY
TOP 5 RECENT SINGLE
- Scratch massive - Girls on top (a tune of two halves)
- H-Man - Manga (this guy is one to watch)
- Buckley - The jam
- AC/0T - Shady people (electro mix)
- Ericke - Keep on making noise (Did you say recent? 12 months old and still can't stop playing it !! Best tune of 2005 for me)
Mainly Phonica (Soho) and Plastic (Covent Garden) for vynil with a little help from Beatport.com on the mp3 side of things.
CURRENT FAVOURITE LABELS?
Was loving some of the stuff on Work last year (Sydney and Ericke - see above) and recently for consistency Great Stuff Records (We Interrupt This Program - Coburn) springs to mind. But consistency ain't always good !!
WHAT CLUBS HAVE INPRESSED YOU RECENTLY?
I am a big fan of The Key. The sound system in there is on a par with Space Ibiza I reckon. It takes everything you give it and more!
WHAT SORT OF MUSIC DO YOU PLAY?
Anything within the Funky electro bracket - as long as it cuts the mustard. Often with a bit of bounce for some reason?!
WHICH DJs HAVE INTEREST YOU?
My mentor DJ 2shoes is still t! he most talented I have come across by a mile. But nobody will know him cos' he has never got off his backside to play out. He always manages to rock my living room though!
WHERE ARE YOUR REGULAR NIGHTS?
Resident at Promised (previously Pacha - moving to Egg)
FAVOURITE NON-CLUB PLACE TO CHILL OUT IN LONDON?
E Pelliccis on Bethnal Green Road do the best breakfast in London. I have no idea how I am still under 20 stone!
