Russell Peters – Carling Apollo Hammersmith
- The Canadian comic brings his irreverent show to London
Friday 5 October 2007, Saturday 6 October 2007
Canadian comic Russell Peters is coming to London's Hammersmith Apollo as part of a full international tour. With all those immigrant bent jokes flying around, in the token words of Peters himself, "Somebody's gonna get real hurt..."
Peters, an Anglo-Indian, has built his reputation solely based on word of mouth, without the need of mainstream media tickets to outsource his identity. Sell out crowds have flocked to shows in Canada and America, selling out the Apollo Theatre in New York City and a recent one-off appearance at London's Shaw Theatre in 2006, selling out in a mere 48 hours!
Many of Russell's jokes speak to immigrant communities around the world - Arab, Caribbean, Chinese, Filipino, and other South or Southeast Asian communities, including the Indian community to which his father was raised. On his website, Russell makes it clear that his goal isn't to 'put people down,' but to 'elevate them, but in a funny way.'
Due to popular demand, Peters added an extra night in London, Saturday, October 6th, after the Friday night show sold out.
