Diary: Find Out George Michael's Will and Kate Song Here

George Michael is to announce tomorrow (Friday) what song it is he has recorded for Will and Kate.

All he's told us so far is that the lyrics start with the word "You", that it's from the 70s and that it was written by a genius. Let's play the right royal guessing game!

The first thing I came up with was Everything I Own, written by David Gates of Bread and most famously sung by Ken Boothe. "You sheltered me from harm..." it begins, which is sweet, but then it goes on about how it would be good to "have you back again", which wouldn't go down too well, given the unfortunate reference to Will and Kate's brief separation a couple of years ago.

Plus rival 80s star Boy George has already covered it.

Next in mind was Leo Sayer's 1977 hit You Make Me Feel Like Dancing. I wish it was this one, I really do, but it has a start-of-relationship ring about it, not a potential marriage partner feel and Leo's famously big hair would only draw attention to Prince William's disturbing lack thereof.

Then there was Carly Simon's classic You're So Vain, but I probably don't think this song is about this royal couple; save it for all the others that ended in bitter divorce.

So that leaves us with the only other 70s-starts-with-you song I could muster: Stevie Wonder's beautiful You Are the Sunshine of My Life. Put your money on that, is my advice, and buy some royal wedding souvenirs with the winnings, or, if anybody has any better guesses, let us know.
