Charlie Wilson's War
Although it stops tantalizingly short of drawing explicit links between American involvement in Afghanistan during the early '80s and the rise of Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, Mike Nichols's starry political satire draws a trickle of blood with its timely references to conflict in the Middle East... Sweet Style in Docklands
One hundred and twenty five years ago, London's docks were the busiest in the world, with all kinds of important Victorian goods like moustache twirlers, whale-bone bodices and fiendish tropical diseases arriving from all corners of the globe.
Sadly, fashions have changed and moustaches have been shaved off and the docks have almost all gone, but not Lyle's Golden Syrup, which is still produced on the same Plaistow site it was in 1883.
The Guinness Book of Records has the gloopy sugary stuff down as the world's oldest still-running brand-packaging, beating Coca Cola by three years. Its famous deep green tins have barely changed in all that time and you still get the thrill of sweet anticipation as you pop the lid with a practised flick of your spoon.
To celebrate the 125 year anniversary, they're going to produce special golden tins. Hopefully that doesn't mean the syrup will be green, though to be fair I'd still spread the stuff on buttered bread or pancakes whatever colour it was. I'm picking up a new set of false teeth tomorrow: Tate and Lyle isn't rhyming slang for Style for nothing.

Like Minds Competition
Released: 7 January 2008
From writer/director Greg Read, Like Minds stars Oscar® nominee Toni Collette (The Night Listener, In Her Shoes, About A Boy) and is the cinematic debut of hot upcoming young star, London-born Eddie Redmayne (The Good Shepherd, Elizabeth - The Golden Age).
Like Minds is a brilliant psychological thriller and a highly original screenplay brought chillingly to life by outstanding performances from the key cast.
When the new boy Nigel arrives at school, Alex suddenly finds himself lumped with a new and very weird dorm-mate. Quiet, cold and with an unhealthy pre-occupation of all things dead, Nigel's other bizarre interests extend to a macabre fascination with pure blood-lineage and history. Despite their differences, slowly Nigel manages to insinuate himself into Alex's life and soon an inexplicable bond forms between the two boys, that will lead to the ultimate tragedy of Nigel's death.
For a chance to win one of three copies of Like Minds on DVD, answer the following question:
Which of the following three people starred in the movie In Her Shoes?
a. Greg Read
b. Toni Collette
c. Eddie Redmayne
