London Mayor Creature
Feature
Right from the off the natural
world has taken over the London Mayoral election.
The two
main candidates are current mayor Ken Livingstone, dubbed King Newt
and Boris Johnson the Old English Sheepdog. At first glance, you'd
think a big dog would have little trouble seeing off a slice of
pond-life, but it should be remembered that the newt in question is
the all-mighty slayer of Trafalgar Square's pigeons.
In
contrast, if the Dulux ad was anything to go by, Boris Johnson would
have trouble tearing up a roll of toilet paper.
The LibDems
have yet to pick a candidate, but the favourite to win their
nomination is Brian Paddick, who, as boss of the police in Brixton,
championed the rights of weed.
Then there's the Green
candidate, Sian 'it's in the fruity name' Berry, who faces something
of a dilemma in that she would have to go against the principles of
many in her party and butcher animals to win.

Ash
In these days of the
whoosh-up-and-down firework career, fifth albums are a rare beast.
Fifth albums that are actually worth getting excited about are, of
course, even rarer. Fifteen years after they formed at school in
Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, Ash have never sounded better.
Really, they haven't...
