| 10 Years Up |
|
As of 2006, we're ten years old.
And in internet years, ten makes us the oldest guy on the block. No London site has been going this long - it's as simple as that.
I regularly check our Ahoy! subscriber list, and what makes me so happy is that so many of you have been here for the duration.
We've experienced good times and bad times together. As for the good times, I'd say reaching a hundred thousand readers a week counts top; as for the bad, September 11, 2001 (NYC) , and July 7 2005 (Lon), were the sorrowful lows. We lost friends and readers - some of you lost family. But the rest of you stayed with us through thick and thin, and that's what's make us a real community.
The big news is that 2006 will be our finest hour.
Your support means we'll be investing time and money in bringing you a bewildering amount of new stuff this year. And the emphasis will be on FREE. Fed up of paying for web features such as dating, jobs and classifieds? My promise is that these things and more will be free, here on LondonNet, for the foreseeable future. No more silly subscriptions on rival sites. LondonNet has always aspired to be free at the point of use (just like the glorious NHS). That's the beauty of the internet - and we'll deliver it whenever and wherever we can.
The good folks here at LondonNet never stop innovating, and the future is beyond bright - it's white hot. Here's my guarantee to you, my gorgeous readers: We love and adore London and we'll keep on telling you why.
Help build more community on our spanking new Forums, and we all win. Together we are strong.
Enjoy and get involved. And hey, thanks to you all - you're what makes it special.
I would also like to thank David, M&D, Iain (you’re a scumbag and a maggot but I still love you), Emilie, Mark, Megan, Lynne, Hels Bells, Milena, Marcela, Antoinette, Stewart, Dan, Patrick, Harper, Steve, Brandon, Jackie, Rennie, Neville, Helena, Vic, Flavio, Pam, Alison, Leanne, Mark and Ian, Electric Scooter Mike, Max, 4U, and my darling daughter.
Take Care.

Sir John In Love
The Coliseum
ENO proudly reaffirms its commitment to celebrating English opera with a delightful new production of Vaughan Williams’s rarely seen Sir John in Love - based on Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor. Vaughan Williams, one of Britain’s finest composers, wrote a ravishingly buoyant score that is conducted by Oleg Caetani, while the distinguished director Ian Judge brings an idyllic portrait of early 20th-century England to the stage.

| Valentines Day Competition |
|
Formerly of the pizza fame (having been Toni Moroni’s Italian eatery for 25 years), Colebrooke's Wine Bar's endearingly small eatery/drinkery is tucked quietly down Colebrooke Row, in Angel. Aside from a few antiques market stragglers accidentally eyeing their pink-velour covered chairs, it has garnered a distinct word-of-mouth presence even only in the first few months of its opening.
With a wide selection of unique wines, a partnership with esteemed deli La Fromagerie, Colebrooke's is sure to continue to build upon their already burgeoning reputation.
LondonNet is giving you the chance to romance your special friend or partner, this Valentines Day, by giving away a romantic dinner + champage, at the wee Parisian corner of Angel. All you have to do? Answer the following question...

Dear LondonNet,
Do you have a list of film premieres?
- Kate
Dear Kate,
While film premiere's aren't generally open to the public, you can often go to watch the stars come down the red carpet. No, we don't have a list, but if you know of any premiere's, you can use our handy forum to list the one's you know about, and help others with the info, too. Oh, the blessings of community...
